Our AML and Verification Commitment

This page sets out how Casinoways verifies your identity and keeps our platform free from money laundering. We run these checks under the laws of our licence jurisdiction, and they affect every account, including yours.

Our AML Policy in Brief

Casinoways operates under licence OGL/2024/842/0350 issued by the Curaçao licensing authority. That licence binds us to the anti-money-laundering and counter-terrorist-financing rules of our jurisdiction, including the Proceeds of Crime and Terrorist Financing framework it enforces. We treat those obligations as non-negotiable: every control on this page exists to stop criminal funds moving through our platform.

We appoint a designated compliance officer who owns this policy, reviews it against current regulations and reports suspicious activity to the relevant financial intelligence unit. Our staff receive AML training when they join us and refreshers each year, so the person reviewing your account knows exactly what the law requires of us.

When We Verify Your Account

We verify at three trigger points: when you register, before your first withdrawal, and whenever your deposits or withdrawals cross a threshold that the law requires us to check. You can play and deposit before full verification, but nothing leaves your account until we know who you are.

Casinoways N.V., our parent company, is the data controller for everything you submit. We ask for the minimum the law allows and nothing more.

  • Photo ID: passport, national identity card or driving licence, valid and legible
  • Proof of address: a utility bill, bank statement or official letter dated within the last 3 months
  • Proof of payment method: the card you deposit with (front and back, middle digits covered) or a screenshot of your e-wallet or crypto wallet showing your name

How Verification Works, Step by Step

We store your documents on encrypted servers with access restricted to our compliance team. Files are transferred over TLS and never shared with third parties except where the law compels us.

  • 1. Open the verification tab in your account settings and select the document type.
  • 2. Photograph or scan the original document; crops of photocopies are rejected.
  • 3. Upload the file; we accept JPG, PNG and PDF up to 10 MB each.
  • 4. Our compliance team reviews it against our internal checklist.
  • 5. You receive an email the moment the check passes or if we need a clearer image.
  • 6. Withdrawals unlock automatically once every document is approved.

Why We Ask for Source of Funds

For most players, identity documents are enough. If your deposits reach a level where the law obliges us to understand where the money comes from, we will ask for evidence of source of funds. This is not an accusation; it is a statutory duty that applies to every licensed operator.

Acceptable evidence includes payslips, a tax return or HMRC notice, bank statements showing regular salary income, or documents proving the sale of an asset. We tell you exactly which document fits your situation, and we review what you send within the same 3-business-day window as standard verification.

How We Monitor Transactions

Every deposit and withdrawal passes through automated screening against risk criteria: deposit size, frequency, funding-source changes and patterns that deviate sharply from your playing history. Flags go to our compliance team for manual review before anything is blocked.

We operate a closed-loop rule: withdrawals return to the same method you used to fund the account wherever technically possible. If you deposited by card, we pay back to that card first. Amounts above what you deposited go to a method verified in your name.

Withdrawal limits at Casinoways are £4,500 per day and £18,000 per month, with a £20 minimum. Crypto and e-wallet payouts complete within 0 to 24 hours; cards and bank transfer take 1 to 5 business days. We charge no fees of our own on either side.

If Verification Fails or Stalls

Where documents do not arrive, or what you send does not match your account details, we act in this order:

  • Withdrawals are held while the review is open; deposits may continue.
  • We contact you by email with the exact problem and what resolves it.
  • If 30 days pass without usable documents, we suspend the account.
  • If we cannot satisfy ourselves about your identity or the origin of funds after suspension, we close the account and return any verified balance to a payment method in your name.
  • Where the law requires it, we file a report to the authorities before releasing funds, and we will not tell you when we have done so, as the law prohibits tipping-off.

How Long We Keep Your Documents

Our licence obliges us to retain verification records for at least 5 years after your account closes or after your last transaction, whichever is later. Retention lets us answer regulator requests and audit queries about past activity. After that period we delete or irreversibly anonymise your documents, unless a longer hold is required by an ongoing investigation. You may request a copy of your stored documents at any time by writing to [email protected]; our live chat is available 24/7 if you need help with that request.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I withdraw before I complete verification?

No. We verify your identity before the first withdrawal. Deposits and play are possible before that, but payouts stay locked until your documents are approved.

Why was my proof of address rejected?

The most common reasons are a document older than 3 months, a name that does not match your account, or an unreadable scan. Send a recent utility bill or bank statement showing your full name and address.

Do you share my documents with anyone?

No. Only our compliance team can access them, and we release them to third parties solely where the law compels us.

Will you always ask for source of funds?

No. We request it only when your deposit levels cross the threshold set by the regulations of our licence jurisdiction.
